Kevin Jackson Employee Spotlight – Black History Month

Continuing our Black History Month Employee Spotlight Series, we’re proud to highlight Kevin Jackson, Executive Director and Private Wealth Manager at LRG Wealth Advisors.

With 20 years in the finance industry, Kevin previously served in Merrill Lynch’s Private Wealth Management division before he and his team joined Hightower.

Q: Tell us about your role at Hightower and the experiences that shaped your path.

A: As Executive Director and Private Wealth Manager with LRG Wealth Advisors, I use my family’s legacy as educators to empower clients and my community with financial knowledge. Sharing simple tools that help people build wealth is one of the most meaningful parts of my work.

Q: What does Black History Month mean to you personally?

A: Black History Month is a time for me to embrace the beauty of my culture in a meaningful way. February creates opportunities for learning, not only for myself, but for anyone eager to understand more about American history and the many inspirational stories that have been overlooked. My family is one of the oldest Black families in Massachusetts, with our ancestry traced back to 1800. Two of my ancestors served in the 54th Regiment, one of the first all-Black infantries formed during the Civil War after the Emancipation Proclamation and later depicted in the film Glory.

Q: Is there a historical black figure or person who is meaningful to you that you’d like to spotlight for Black History Month? What impact have they had on you?

A: Maggie Lena Walker, the first Black woman in the U.S. to charter and serve as president of a bank, inspires me with her courage and vision. She reminds me why representation in finance matters. I also draw strength from the countless Black educators, activists, and leaders, both known and unsung. Their sacrifices guide my commitment to mentoring others and helping build stronger, more informed communities.

Q: What advice would you give to young people of color entering finance?

A: Don’t let the lack of diversity discourage you. There is tremendous opportunity for those who work hard and build strong relationships. With a mentor, an advocate, a peer who pushes you, and a passion to be a constant student of your craft, you can thrive in this industry.

Q: What achievement are you most proud of and why?

A: I’m most proud of the young people I’ve mentored who have gone on to build successful careers in law, business, and education. Helping them access opportunities through my network has been one of the greatest rewards of my career.
