Do you make New Year’s resolutions? If so, you’re probably familiar with that feeling of waking up a year later having not reached your goal(s). The scale shows a higher number than it did last year, your business card has the same job title on it, and you still haven’t checked that dream vacation off your bucket list.

If you made resolutions or set goals for 2017, it’s not too late to follow through. With 4 months left in the year, take a moment to reflect on how you’re doing. Have you already succeeded? Congratulations! Are you on track to achieve your desired goal before the year is up? Nice job! Do you still have work to do? Keep going! Have you not even started? All hope is not lost—you still have time!

With summer winding down, the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend is a great opportunity to renew your commitment to finishing the year strong. If you need a boost or some guidance, check out these tips for keeping some of the most common New Year’s resolutions. Here are a few additional suggestions:

1. If you haven’t reached your goals yet, consider adjusting them to make them more realistic and achievable. Commit to the resolution(s) you are most eager to keep and let the others go.

2. Set aside time to do the work. Just as you schedule time for meetings, dinners, or picking your kids up from school, schedule time to work on your resolutions. This could be blocking off 20 minutes a day to read those books you’ve been meaning to dig into or an hour every Saturday morning to spend working on yourself.

3. Establish a tangible reminder to hold yourself accountable for making daily progress. For example, set a daily alarm or keep a regular diary.

Before you know it, drug stores will be selling Halloween candy and holiday music will be playing on the radio. But there is still time to finish strong! Refocus on achieving your goals for the final third of 2017.
